Pakistan as i am...sorry

this may put me in trouble...
im in no mood of writing about the fashion world in a situation like what Pakistan is going through..
im sure you probably heard the SIALKOT issue.. im not into projecting whats wrong but man some things are just too much to handle...
this incident has rekindled my quest for any level of humanity or the search for a new definition of modern or civilized society prevailent in Pakistan.. im sorry again .. i am finding it harder to love the country and more importantly to live in the country that im supposed to call home... i have the option of not wanting to call it home.. for crying the dash out loud.. who calls a place home where 2 young men no matter how messedup they were or whatever the crime... beaten to death then hung in front of public on a main road in one of the centers of the country.. in the presence of police authorities... im sorry i cant call it home.. call me hypocritical or whatever.. its just not human.. the best part which is the worst part is that its been almost 7 days and nothing has happened except talking..
dont know how long this can go on.. dont know where we are headed as a country.. hardly a nation we are anymore. hardly joint by any sense of morality or religion or ideology or our so called proclamation to ISLAM... its all gone to the same place where humanism is or basic civic sense is.

its sickening. its beyond human to be living through this. they might as well be eating their meat all thats left. EFFF!

i have been trying to ignore all the news, all thats wrong so i can get my head into work and positive things that i can do on my own.. have doing my bit.. started teh UMEED thing.. tried sending some stuff to the areas affected by Floods in Pakistan, joined hands with the fashion fraternity to put up an exhibition to raise funds for the flood relief efforts, the event truned out great, a slight glimmer of hope still exists. Now working on another idea with CITY FM 89 and RADIO 1,FM91 alongwith many musicians like NOORI, ali Zafar, roxen, zeb and hanniya, karavan and fashion designers like maria b, myself, munibnawaz, probably a host of others will join in when we ask them to.. so hopefully this weekend 28/29th august at mall of lahore.. an activity amidst all teh negativity, lets see how much we can do. you are more than welcome to come if you read this in time.

there has to be a reason why all this is happening, its just not normal, and we should all make a conscious effort to ensure that this doesnt become normal. i mean all the politics, the crap, the floods, the lies about the numbers of people affected and dead, the lies about government commissions, the supposed enforced democracy in a country that can not really work on democracy without a laid out plan for its future.. every couple of years our plans for the country change, our direction changes, and everyone in the country is either quiet or insignificant, how do i lead myself to believe that i still want to work on my individual goals..?then i think i should directly get involved in politics, then i think im scared, if politics can make someone like IMRAN KHAN look like a villain, then the game is going to be pretty dirty. BUT i also cant just sit on my behind and keep on making happy collections for one fashion week after the other.

on the positive side, my 100th music video was released a couple of days ago song by EP called SHOR MACHA directed by Bilal lashari and i did the styling/wardrobe.
thin it turned out pretty darn good.. a song thats relevant in our society, an ideology that needed to be reminded and a melody that represents the youth of our country (atleast thats the hope)

So much done in so little time...

OK....its been a crazy couple of months sincei had the time to sit down for more than 20 minutes at one place where i was alone enough to feel like a human being rather than a machine...
last i remember writing about was this dynamic dream that i had and wanted to fulfill...well since then i have been working my boots off to practice what i had written ...
and now i have the hour to fill you in on what steps have been taken in fulfillment of that dream.

I was working on my fall collection, after long awaited inspiration, i called it "inspire life" the name is more philiosophical than what is generally associated with fashion and glamor world but i have always believed in the substance of my work rather than just the superficial layering..Inspire life, is a simple idea, My take on life without inspiration is that of an animal who has no direction and focus in life except dealing what comes ones way and when it comes, inspiration is the focus that makes us human beings and a part of the progressive society of the world. It makes us want to acheive and believe in ourselves and in the world of which we have become a part of.I decided my inspiration for the men's wear line had to be a retuen to basis with a Munib Nawaz edge to it... a quintessential male is inspired by 3 basic needs(atleast at the house of MN we believe so) the 3 needs are
SEX-Love
POWER
MONEY
having the 3 needs in mind, the collection began to come out almost automatically, i still had no idea of how to launch this collection. There was an aspect of pulling a fashion show but seemed far fetched keeping in mind the last mens wear fashion show held in Pakistan was almost 25years ago. But like the dream, the collection, Inspiration was the key word. If i was inspired, i would believe and if i believe, I ACHEIVE.
the collection was shaping up ...MONEY meant color in my moodboard, all money notes are colorful and have intricate details that make them unique, so the money part of the collection was based on colors of money. (when i upload pictires it will make more sense)
Power is black and gold, its the opulence of darkness, its the animal instinct, the lions gold, the black of the night when the power attacks. Blalck seemed to me the obvious choice for this segment of the collection.
SEX-Love was my wedding wear line, yes weddings are an official agreement for sex and all the other facets of relationships and living with someone for the rest of your life. colors of golds as embellishments and all other opulent attributes in a garment with a sopisticated feel to it were employed in this segment.

Now came the show. I had been approached by a brand manager of RADO-Switzerland to do a fashion show and as GOD would have it, the first all mens fashion show in Pakistan was agreed upon. Inspire Life was going to reach millions because we also brought along GEO pakistan as our media partner, it is the largest and most watched network in pakistan.

so the show after many sleepless nights and weeks of intense finalization happened. the place looked sharp, beautiful, relentlessly sophisticated, carried the message of sex, power and money and Inspired Life.

Initial reaction of the press was overwhelming, people believed in me, my brand and my vision, it is only a mtter of time now that the shops will be extended in numbers, the next plan is to open atleast 5 more outlets within the next 15 months. lets see if ill b able to pull that too...
so now the pictures will be uploaded soon and the video will be run locally and internationally through geo network...
more soon ...

munib nawaz at miami fashion week

wow! such a crazy week just passed. it was full of its ups and downs and mediocrity. there were times of ecstatcy and times at which i was on the verge of falling apart. the trip to miami came through even though many preparations didnt go as planned. we made it to miami, after going through the few hours of investigation at the airport, me and rabya crashed as soon as we reached the hotel.

the preparations of the show started with a twist, i had sent all my collection through dhl, an international courier company, but when i recieved my pieces here, i was short of one very important jacket. well didnt let that bother me down too much and continued. the people we met from the first day were extremely professional and very positive. The president of miami fashion week, Beth Sobol along with her team were spot on in welcoming and maintaining a cordial relation with all the designers and making sure they fit right in at the backstage of the show. the backstage team headed by Jon(forgot his full name) were people with alot of positive energy and enthusiasm about what they were doing.

had the chance to hear and meet , mercedes gonzalez who is the head of global purchasing group, she sounded to me like an inspirational person, someone who takes success and dedication the way it should be taken.

Then at the first fitting, felt the samae great energy from the models and stylists which created a great sense of team work for the show. the other designers showcaing with me were michael cinca, hadi katra and amato couture. amato and hadi's work was very inspiring alongside that they ended up becoming good friends during the course of these few days.

the night before the show me and rabya went to an after party at the plunge, where we met, vincent de paul, who was the celebrity entry for my show and he introduced us to his friend, lee dahlberg who is the designer and owner of Rockband(http://www.leatherrockbands.com/). we all created a connection with each other in less than an hour where me and Lee decided to colaborate for my show at the miami fashion week. he had a showing at neiman marcus but still showed up at the show with his brilliant collection to accessorize my models and me. I was honored that he had come so i asked him and vincent de paul to share the finale with me on the show, doing so made headlines throughout international media. I even sported an original rockband tee shirt with my jacket, which in a weird sort of way worked, i felt.

The response of the show was overwhelming and the mdeia started pouring in for interviews. I was very keen on finding out what mercedez gonzalez had to say as she was one person i respected and a real authority on business of fashion. she said "u sir are a rockstar" and went on comparing my work to that of jean paul gaultier.. Honored and overwhelmed, i almost brokedown for a few seconds.luckily rabya was there to hug me through the emotions.

there were poeple with great positive energy who i was blessed to meet. vincent de paul, lee dahlberg, beth sobol and mercedes gonzalez were special. they gave me synergy, harmony and hope in the goodness that each individual carries in them and the forces that are needed to actualize anyones potential. Thank you all for your support, kindness and love.

more soon.
